Good news, guys! Climate change is not real, the planet is not heating up, and we can all gas up our cars and go home. At least, that is, according to the conservative bathroom magazine known as the The National Review, which recently posted the following tweet:

See?! Barely any temperature increase at all. We’re saved!

Help Grist raise $25,000 by September 30 to further advance our climate reporting

Unfortunately, while this chart is technically correct, it’s also designed to confuse you. As the Washington Post points out, the scale “intentionally hides the actual change in the temperatures. It’s akin to suggesting that Shaquille O’Neal and Mini-Me (aka Verne Troyer) are the same height because they’re both tiny compared to the planet Jupiter.” In other words, it’s bullshit.

Too bad, really. We were kind of excited to make Grist into a flour review site.
