Oh goodness, there are fossil shenanigans going on everywhere you look.
You have to read this article in The Hill with talmudic attention to detail to figure out what’s going on with this new "educational" group — "Responsible Resources" — formed by ex-House staffers. Here’s a hint:
In its ad, Responsible Resources says, however, that taxes on energy companies are a threat to affordable and reliable energy.
Remember, "taxes" here equals "removal of recent subsidies."
Later we hear them lamenting that lawmakers don’t know the "simple facts" of the energy debate, like the fact that "there are more than 2 trillion barrels of oil shale in the United States, more than the projected oil reserves in the Middle East." Such a simple fact! Here’s the coup de grace:
"A clean environment is a luxury that only the wealthiest countries can afford," [Brian Kennedy] said.
Will someone wake me when we get wealthy enough to move to clean energy?
Expect this sort of fossil disinformation to be everywhere in coming years — astroturf groups, lobbying groups, "educational" groups, etc. etc. I fear that clean energy champions are woefully unprepared to deal with it.
