Center for American Progress Senior Fellow Robert Sussman is heading to the Environmental Protection Agency to serve as senior policy counsel to Administrator Lisa Jackson on climate change and other environmental issues.
Sussman served on the EPA transition team with Jackson.
This will be his second stint at the EPA; he was deputy administrator under President Clinton from 1993 to 1994. After leaving the EPA, he was a partner at the law firm Latham & Watkins from 1996 to 2007, where he headed the firm’s environmental practice and also lobbied until 2006. CAP’s Wonk Room blog has more on Sussman.
Jackson has also tapped Georgetown Law professor Lisa Heinzerling as a climate policy adviser.
