More climate change = more hay fever, according to the Guardian:

Help Grist raise $25,000 by September 30 to further advance our climate reporting

Hay fever sufferers face longer pollen seasons and highly allergenic new strains from invasive plants, a new report on the health effects of climate change on the UK warned on Tuesday.

Global warming will cause earlier flowering, possibly extending the hay fever season by six weeks, and enable new species to grow in the UK. Pollen is also getting more potent, packing more allergen into each grain.

Some public health types have been arguing that the best way to get people to care about climate change may be to frame it as a health problem. As NPR explains, the theory is that people care about polar bears, but they care about sick kids (and INFINITE SNEEZES) more. And we are maybe convinced. Because sea-level rise is scary and all, but our eyes are watering NOW and we want it to STOP.
