When Danelle Myer got divorced at age 30, she expected she’d just keep the same job, remarry, and have a few kids. But seven years later, Myer was still single and sitting on her couch alone on a Saturday night. Suddenly, she realized she had the freedom to do something radical. So she started a tiny organic veggie farm in Nebraska Iowa.

One Farm is located on a small corner of Myer’s parents’ corn and soy farm. Her parents “completely dig” her operation, and she’s supportive of her parents’ conventional farm, too.

You’ll find Myer’s story and many other Nebraska tales in the 10th episode of the PBS series, The Victory Garden’s Edible Feast.

In the episode, you’ll meet Big Muddy Urban Farm manager Ali Clark. During the off-season, Clark is an old-fashioned candy maker. She talks community gardening, CSAs, and her granddad’s old caramel recipe.

In a gardening technique segment of the show, you’ll get tips from Edward Berna, an urban farmer who fashioned his yard into a fresh produce haven.

The show wraps up with a feast prepared by with Chef Isa Chandra Moskowitz, who opened the first vegan eatery in Omaha. She cooks up a meal of mouth-watering lentil chili and pumpkin cornbread.
