Traffic lights aren’t usually a thing of beauty — unless you’re late and they’re green as far as the eye can see. But with a little help from some fog, German photojournalist Lucas Zimmermann managed to turn stoplights into gorgeous works of art:

Zimmermann took his series of traffic light photos near Weimar, Germany (about 100 miles north of Nuremberg). The long-exposure photographs evoke that nighttime stillness that wraps you in quiet and makes you catch your breath. If only we could channel that feeling during rush hour.
